AMC+’s new dark crime series rag doll will have fans addicted to its intriguing storyline. But what makes rag doll come to life are its main characters. DS Nathan Rose (Henry Lloyd-Hughes), DI Emily Baxter (Thalissa Teixeira) and DC Lake Edmonds (Lucy Hale) all have their secrets to wear.
As the series progresses, the characters’ stories unfold as they attempt to find a murderer and stop a list of victims. Audiences will begin to understand that the show is not just about the murder, but how the case affects each character and their state of mind.
Andrea Wyld does anything for a story in the AMC series
The audience gets a small introduction from Andrea Wyld (Natasha Little) during the flashback to the cremation killer case. Fans are led to believe that she did not leak the complaint letter about Rose to the press. But, Wyld is as fierce as anyone when it comes to his journalism career.
Wyld is more than willing to write about Rose’s downfall to the public, despite their camaraderie. The character will likely prove they’re doing whatever it takes to get a good story. The series alludes to the fact that Wyld and Rose had some form of relationship before it was institutionalized.

In the investigative team is DCI Terrence Simmons (Ali Cook). He is not heavily featured at the start of the series, but already displays a bossy attitude as the team’s superior. The character has a more interesting relationship with Rose and Baxter.
After the main character learns of the list of victims in Episode 1, Simmons supports Rose. Despite knowing her past, her sanity, and her place on the list, Simmons allows Rose to participate in the investigation. When it comes to Baxter and Rose, Simmons trusts his team while giving Edmunds a hard time.

DS Finlay (Michael Smiley) joins Baxter, Rose and Edmunds in the investigation. Finlay is a voice of reason and comfort for Baxter and Rose. At the trial, he stays by Rose’s side and protects him from the journalists. He even warns the officer who reported Rose not to make a scene.

One of the main characters of rag doll is DC Lake Edmonds, played by Pretty little Liars starring Lucy Hale. Edmonds is American, vegan, feminist, and often too assertive compared to Baxter and Rose. She knows who she is, what she wants and her ideals. But, her confidence in who she is and what she thinks sometimes rubs the other characters the wrong way.
She and Rose clash as Rose keeps certain emotions and truths in check while Edmonds sees no problem in stating the obvious.
Audiences might find that Edmonds has more to say about her story than she lets on. Hale told TV Line, “I knew from the start that she was literally running from something, but I didn’t know what it was until halfway through filming the season. But I knew it was bad enough for her to want to start a new life.

Audiences will come to respect Baxter for his headstrong attitude and loyalty to Rose. She is one of Rose’s closest friends and partners. Having seen the consequences of the Cremation Killer case on her partner, she refuses to let anyone use her against him.
According to Teixeira in an AMC video, Baxter and Rose’s relationship is “sticky” because they are incredibly attached to each other, but something between them isn’t being said. Ragdoll makes Baxter a strong female lead during labor, but still harbors her own complex emotions which she tries to manage.

Rose is the most fleshed out character in rag doll, and the storyline is centered around him. Compared to the other characters, he went through the wringer. He goes through a mental break when the Cremation Killer breaks free. Diagnosed with PTSD, Nathan’s moment of weakness while institutionalized features the rest of the series.
In rag doll, Rose is the most troubled character who battles his demons from the past that come back to haunt him. In AMC’s behind-the-scenes video, Lloyd-Hughes explains, “He’s a slightly tortured soul, not sure where his direction is.”
