If you’re anything like us, you’ll go wild for a new crime thriller, and the darker and twistier it is, the better. Sound like you? Then rag doll will be right up your street, starring Lucy Hale and based on a bestselling novel of the same name.

After the first episode aired, reviews were mixed but mostly positive, with The Guardian give it away Four out of five stars and also mark it “This year’s bloodiest murder drama.”

The series – which is made by the same people as Kill Eve – is sure to delight fans of the detective genre. Here’s everything you need to know about it.

What is Ragdoll about?

rag doll is based on Daniel Cole’s novel of the same name. The dark comedy sees three London Met Police detectives make a harrowing discovery: a corpse made up of six different people stitched together like a puppet or, as the show’s title suggests, a “rag doll”.

The series centers around the search for the killer, but things get complicated when one of the detectives, DS Nathan Rose, becomes the killer’s next potential target.

Rose has her own complex background, having just returned to the police after a two-year stint in a mental institution after committing GBH during a court hearing.

It all adds up to a twisted, gruesome, and gripping plot peppered with dark comedy moments.

Who’s in it?

The three main detectives, DC Lake Edmunds, DS Nathan Rose and DI Emily Baxter are played by Lucy Hale, Henry-Lloyd Hughes and Thalissa Teixeira respectively.

Ali Cook as DCI Simmons, Michael Smiley as DS Finlay, Natasha Little as Andrea Wyld, Clive Mendus as Dr Adrian Thompson, Kobna Holdbrook-Smith as Joel Shepton and Perry Jacques as Robert Maloney also join the cast.

When is Ragdoll coming out?

rag doll has actually already started in the UK, having appeared in the US earlier in November. The first episode aired on Monday December 6 and the second on Tuesday December 9 at 9 p.m.

Each episode of the six-part series will then air every Monday and Tuesday before Christmas.
